14 partner organisations from seven EU countries are working for five years on the development of the first scalable production plant for paper-based bubble wrap.
September 2025 - Rossmann as a new customer
Rossmann integrates Papair packaging solutions into the regular operations of the new Rossmann e-commerce warehouse in Großburgwedel/Hanover.
June 2025 - ISO certification completed
Papair receives ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, strengthening its position as a reliable partner for sustainable packaging solutions.
April 2025 - Patent protection granted
Papair secures patent protection in Europe for manufacturing processes, technology, and products, thereby extending global protection beyond Australia, Chile, and Japan.
April 2024 – Harbour Investment GmbH as new strategic partner
Papair gains Harbour Investment Group as a partner and strengthens the company's growth with a seven-figure investment.
July 2023 – START OF PRODUCTION
Production begins and the first meters of PapairWrap roll off the production line. The long-planned project is now being implemented.
May 2023 – Amazon Accelerator
Out of 1,500 applications, Papair is one of 16 startups selected for the Amazon Accelerator program—giving it a boost for its market entry.
December 2022 – Winner Durchstarterpreis
Papair wins the breakthrough award in the “Scale up” category – clear recognition of its development to date.
August 2022 – Gaining Leipa as a further partner
Papair gains the LEIPA Group as another strong partner with over 175 years of experience and expertise in the paper industry and recycling solutions.
February 2022 – Production site Rethem, Lower Saxony
Papair moves into its production facility in Rethem (Aller) and begins preparations for its own production of PapairWrap, the paper-based bubble wrap.
November 2021 – Pre-Seed Financing
Papair gains Exportverpackung Sehnde GmbH and Sumet Technologies GmbH & Co. KG as strategic partners.
June 2021 – Crowdinvesting
Papair ends crowd investing campaign after less than 52 hours with €400,000 in funding.
February 2021 – Patent
After successfully developing the product, the founding team submits a patent application for PapairWrap, the paper bubble wrap.
July 2020 – Foundation Papair GmbH
The founding team officially registers Papair as a limited liability company (GmbH), thereby establishing the legal basis for building the business.
May 2020 – Founding team
Christopher and Steven join Fabian and complete the founding team of Papair.
2018 – An idea is born
As part of a start-up seminar at university, Fabian is looking for an idea with impact and, inspired by a challenge in his mother's professional environment, develops the idea of paper bubble wrap.
